Our ISO940 range is made up of Betacraft’s premium wet weather products that have been designed originally to meet the needs of New Zealand farmers & growers. ISO940 products have been in production since 2009, and have been continually reviewed and improved throughout that time.
“Tetra” comes from the Greek word “tettares”, meaning four; “tec” refers to the advanced technical construction.
The story behind the name ISO940 refers to the Isobar readings found on a weather map. An ISO reading of 940 indicates cloudy, windy weather with possible rain and storms - just the rating our gear is designed to withstand effortlessly.
ISO940 Benefits.
100% waterproof:Â
Being rainwear, of course absolute waterproofness (>25 000mm H2O ) was non-negotiable. We have delved deep into this topic on our waterproofness page, but the reason that the ISO940 is at the top of its game is largely due to our Tetratec four layer fabric system for ultimate waterproofness and breathability.
There are 4 components to the fabric system which are bound together to appear to be an external shell and an internal lining. The external shell has a woven nylon outer fabric with a high denier rating and rip-stop structure, the inside of which has an advanced PU coating and sealed seams to ensure maximum waterproof protection. The lining of the jacket features breathable technology by combining a polyester rib fabric with a PU backer to support moisture wicking. This layer has welded seams as well to add another layer of waterproof protection.
100% windproof:
Crafted with cutting-edge technology, our 100% windproof fabric and design provides an impenetrable shield against gusts and chills, ensuring maximum warmth and comfort in any outdoor condition.Â
Magnetic closures:
In rough wet weather when it’s cold out, you’re often wearing gloves, and gloves mean reduced finger dexterity and increased frustration when trying to do up domes/press studs on your jacket. The sworn enemy to a dome is mud, clogging it up and eventually rendering the storm flap a useless accessory flapping about while you’re trying to work. So, we replaced the domes/press studs with strong magnets to improve the functionality of the storm flap, and the waterproof and windproofness of your jacket or overtrousers.Â
Pockets:
The ISO940 jacket will ensure you always have all the storage options you need while out and about, with three external pockets including two large storage pockets and one velcro chest pocket. With secure internal access, there are also two waterproof cell phone pockets. For the overtrousers there are no pockets to minimise bulk and let you just access the secure pockets on the Quest fleece inner pants!
Neoprene cuffs:Â
If you’ve ever driven a motorbike or ATV on the farm in the rain, you likely know what it feels like to get rain straight up the sleeve! One of the key advantages to neoprene cuffs is their exceptional water resistance, ensuring that moisture is kept at bay while maintaining a snug, secure fit around your wrists. This not only prevents water from seeping in, but also helps lock in warmth, making neoprene cuffs ideal for cold or wet weather.
Two-way zip:Â
Freedom of movement while you’re working is essential. We’ve got two-way zip closures on our ISO940 parkas so that when you’re sitting on your horse or your motorbike, you have the option of unzipping from the bottom giving you the additional freedom of movement of your legs, while keeping your chest wrapped up tight and warm.
Sustainable fabric:Â
The ISO940 collection is made from Global Recycling Standard certified fabrics with the Polyester liner made from recycled plastic bottles, giving discarded plastic a new life and reducing landfill waste. The Nylon Ripstop outer fabric is made from recycled Nylon yarns sourced from fishing nets, clothing, and excess production.
