Sustainability is a phrase that can mean an array of things depending on who you are and what is significant to your lifestyle and those around you.
To guide Betacraft on our sustainability journey we have examined the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the UN and we're taking some early steps towards improving how we do things around here.

  • Global recycling standard

The Global Recycling Standard or GRS is the certification we use to guarantee the recycled content of our garments. You can learn more about the GRS here .

  • ISO940

In 2021 we produced the ISO940 collection made from GRS certified fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles, giving discarded plastic a new life and reducing landfill waste.

The Nylon Ripstop outer fabric is made from recycled Nylon yarns sourced from fishing nets, clothing, and excess production.

PACKAGING and the load on landfill

  • Approximately 400 million plastic bags are used in New Zealand each year, with most ending up in landfills, waterways, or as litter. A single plastic bag can take up to 1000 years to degrade into the environment.

    ISO940
We replaced the plastic ISO940 packaging with 100% biodegradable (certified) PLA bags, even the button is made of coconut shell. The new option uses water-based ink made of biodegradable pigment suspended in water, a greener alternative to plastisol ink.

    Quest Fleece
The Quest fleece collection is now packaged in a water-soluble and non-toxic PVA.

Water soluble in <180 days
